A digital platform entirely dedicated to Swiss cinema has been created: filmo.ch
An online platform, filmo.ch, has been launched to give Swiss cinema a contemporary dream: to make itself known in the digital age. The aim of filmo is actually to make accessible to the general public a part of the Swiss film heritage that otherwise would have remained consigned to the archives, building a bridge between the old and the new, between national cultural heritage and the increasing demand for films on demand.
The selection of cult works is handled by a team of independent film experts, and the selected films have been made available on several existing Video on Demand (VoD) platforms, such as Teleclub on Demand, cinephile, iTunes Movie Store, leKino, Sky Store, and UPC OnDemand. From now on, there is no need to go through fruitless searches to find a Swiss film to watch online: simply go to filmo.ch and let yourself be inspired, also taking advantage of the information sheets offered by the platform. The current selection already includes a film from Ticino: San Gottardo, by Villi Hermann, produced by Imagofilm Lugano and Filmkollektiv Zürich AG in 1977 (in the picture a still from the movie).
Further added value is given by the depth of the service offered: technical sheets, in-depth studies and bonus contributions available in the three national languages promoting multilingualism and cultural exchanges.
The filmo project is the result of an initiative by the association CH.Film, which was launched during the Solothurn Film Days and made possible by Engagement Migros, the fund of the Migros group that supports pioneering projects of social change.
